The gold standard for every professional leatherworker worldwide. John James are the needles that have been used for years and years, are hardwearing, resistant to bending, and with a nice small size.
We use the #003 size for everything in our workshop as it provides the perfect balance of small size and high strength. It works well with 0.6 or 0.8mm threads. The 3/0 is a larger size perfect for 1mm and thicker threads, or if you need a sturdier needle on thiner threads/projects.
You will almost certainly lose these before they break or have any issues. We have a few needles in the shop that are reaching 10 years of age.
***Saddlers Harness Needles size 001, size 002 and size 003 are all identical needles, they have the same length and the same diameter. Some countries prefer the size to be called a size 001, others prefer it to be called a size 002 or a size 003 and this is why the product is given 3 sizes being all the same.
